Leadership Resource Group was founded in 2009 by Jim Sykes to provide management consulting services and training to for-profit and not-for-profit businesses and organizations.
Jim has been professionally involved with leadership, organizational and community development, for more than 25 years. Jim is a graduate of the McGill University School of Business - Senior Management Program and recently became certified in the Global Learning Partners' - Dialogue Education program.
Jim's has worked with a range of organizations from grassroots community groups to large provincial and national organizations. He spent ten years as a faculty member at Hamilton’s Mohawk College teaching urban politics and developmental psychology. After a 'successful career of more than twenty years as a community development and management professional in the Canadian YMCA, Jim decided to re-challenge his skills by providing leadership to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA as its President & CEO from 2004–2009. During this time the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA expanded the scope of its programs and services by pioneering the ASPCA Meet Your Match™ family of adoption related programs in Canada, re-launching a greatly enhanced Pet Assisted Therapy program and in the Fall of 2009 successfully launched a new Companion Animal Hospital.
In 2007 at the National Summit for Urban Animal Strategies, Jim was selected by his colleagues to receive the prestigious “Summit Award for Individual Achievement” This award recognized Jim’s leadership in animal welfare at both the Ontario SPCA and Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
In October of 2009 Jim accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer Ontario SPCA where he had previously served as the volunteer President & Chairman of the Board of Directors for almost four years, successfully leading the Board and organization through a period of significant organizational change and repositioning.
Today, LRG is Jim's full-time focus. Many of the Ontario SPCA's 50 communities remain as clients with Jim's focus now expanding to include many other community organizations and businesses.
